Nearly 60,000 children registered for kindergarten

-

As of August 6, 59,891 children applied for a placing at a kindergarten through the online registration held across the capital, reported Ulaanbaatar Education Office.

For the upcoming academic year of 2018-2019, 113,252 children between the ages of two and five will be enrolled in 672 public and private kindergartens operating in Ulaanbaatar. The online registration opened on July 25 and will end on August 25. Parents are advised to register their children as soon as possible to secure their spot as only 77 percent of all kindergarten-age children in Ulaanbaatar will get to receive preschool education this year.

Head of the Ulaanbaatar Education Office J.Gantulga stated, “Random draws for kindergarten placing will be held simultaneously at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24. In the case that the number of first-time enrollers exceed the limit, the enrollment committee of the respective kindergarten will hold a random draw. The enrolment process will be conducted transparently.”

This year, the city administration has planned to open 18 new kindergartens. Currently, five of them have already started operating, another five are planned for commission before the new academic year, and the remaining eight will be put to operation before the end of 2018, according J.Gantulga.

Moreover, 27 schools are being expanded this year.
