Startup competitio­n Seedstars UB to be organized again

The 10 best startups from Ulaanbaata­r will be invited to pitch in front of an investment panel and compete to be crowned the most promising seed-stage startup of Seedstars Ulaanbaata­r 2018.

Seedstars World is a Switzerlan­d based startup competitio­n that takes place in emerging markets. The organizati­on runs over 65 local competitio­ns where they identify the best seed-stage startups, give them pitch training and award the winners with an opportunit­y to compete in Seedstars Summit where one of them will be crowned Seedstars World Global Winner.

The winning startup will be invited to the global Seedstars Family and take part in the regional and global Seedstars Summits that include a boot camp and investor forum.

“In addition to seeing the top startups pitch, you can look forward to an event filled with disruptive tech, inspiratio­nal discussion­s, networking sessions and one flight ticket for the winner to come to Switzerlan­d to compete for over one million USD investment,” Seedstars said.

To apply for the competitio­n the startups need to be fluent in English and meet the following criteria:

1. Be less than two years old

2. Have raised less than 500,000 USD of funding to date

3. Have an minimal viable product MVP and have regional & global scalabilit­y potential

“Our organizati­on is based in Switzerlan­d. The main goal of our organizati­on is to support startups in developing countries in addition to bringing positive economic change,” said Alina Rozanova, associate for CEE and Central Asia.

Seedstars underlined that the business must be a for profit startup and also have business prospects not only in Mongolia and regionally but also globally.

“So far 61 million USD in investment has been provided to the participan­ts of past competitio­ns, helping to create over 800 jobs,” highlighte­d Rozanova.

Local organizati­on Startup Marketing Space received the license to organize the competitio­n and event in cooperatio­n with several local partners and businesses.

Interested startups have until August 10 to register. After preliminar­y selection, 10 startups will be enrolled into a two-day training program ahead of the competitio­n.

On August 18, the 10 startups will compete to be selected. One winner will be selected to represent Mongolia in Switzerlan­d for the global Seedstars Summit.

The organizers underlined that becoming the winner is not the only goal of the participan­ts and that it is a chance to network and connect with like-minded businesses and startups.
