Member of Parliament L.OyunErdene held a press conference about holding an irregular parliamentary session and his opposition to the “60 billion” case at the State Palace on August 8.
L.Oyun-Erdene stressed that he has been protesting against illegal state activities which is linked with “60 billion MNT” case in recent months to seek justice and fairness in society, but state organizations don’t listen to his and public voices against corruption.
He noted that 26 lawmakers have put forward a proposal to hold an irregular session to address the “60 billion MNT” case to the public, but the legal standing committee is making attempts to postpone the session or reject their request.
The lawmaker stated that representatives from law enforcement authorities, especially heads of the Independent Authority Against Corruption, are explaining that the audiotape of the 90-minute recorded conversation that took place between three people, including Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold, regarding the plot to sell government positions to raise money for campaign finance, is a montaged audio.
He said, “When the law enforcement authorities give up on a clear case related to an illegal state operations and corruption, how will they deal with the controversial issues regarding the 49 and 51 percent stakes of Erdenet Mining Corporation and fight against other major corruption scandals. It is hard to promote justice and fair society when the state law enforcement authorities are treating people differently depending on their status.”
L.Oyun-Erdene added, “M.Enkhbold can ignore an individual’s demand and can treat people differently, but Mongolia’s state organizations cannot ignore a fair demand from a regular person under the law.”
Lawmaker L.Oyun-Erdene demanded Speaker M.Enkhbold to fulfill the following requests before August 20.
Apologize to the people for his engagement in the plot to sell government positions for campaign fundraising.
Make a request to open the “60 billion MNT” case again to law enforcement agencies.
Stop making excuses for postponing an irregular parliamentary session and call the session soon.
L.Oyun-Erdene announced that he will call on the public and civil society to join his protest if Speaker M.Enkhbold doesn’t fulfill the three demands before August 20.
