Right behind the Canyon Roadhouse, with its old Ford and Chevy trucks, you’ll find a campsite next to a dry riverbed. Each stand has lots of shade provided by camel thorn trees, a power point and a braai area. The ablution facilities are built from stone and are well maintained.

You’ll be tempted to relax at your stand, but the Fish River Canyon is just around the corner. Drive the 25 km to the canyon early in the morning and have a cup of coffee at the Hobas viewpoint at first light – it’s the best time for photos.
