Police call for public’s help in high profile cases

-

The police have once again called for members of the public with information that could lead to arrests in four high profile cases, to come forward and contact the police.

These cases include the murder of Dawid Bezuidenhout High School learner Magdalena Stoffels in 2010, the murder of nine-year-old Cheryl Avihe Ujaha in 2018, the murder of Andy Kazekondjo in September this year and the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Windhoek’s Havana informal settlement.

A combined amount of N$310 000 in reward for information that could lead to the arrests and prosecution of suspects in these cases has been availed by the police, the head of the Namibian Police Criminal Investigations Directorate, Moritz !Naruseb, told Nampa in an interview yesterday.

“The Namibian police will once more like to urge the community to come forward with credible information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of suspects. They will be protected,” he said.

A reward of N$50 000 is offered for information in the case of Magdalena Stoffels, who was found with her throat slit in a riverbed near her school at the end of July 2010. She died shortly after being found. She was 17 years old. The perpetrator is still at large.

An amount of N$100 000 has been availed for information in the Ujaha case. The nine-year-old girl’s mutilated body was found dumped in the bushes near Windhoek’s Staan Vas location two days after she went missing from her home in Katutura in 2018. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the matter.

There is a reward of N$80 000 for information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects who shot and killed 29-year-old Kazekondjo in September this year when he attempted to come to the aid of his sister who was raped.

The incident occurred in Havana informal settlement in Windhoek.

An amount of N$80 000 is also offered for information in the case of the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Havana, said Naruseb. -Nampa
