OMUTHIYA – A father of a grade 4 learner in Oshikoto was denied bail on Wednesday in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court after he appeared on rape charges for having allegedly defiled his biological daughter.

It is alleged that during the night on Sunday, the 40-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, entered her room while she was asleep and raped her.

“The victim went to inform one of their neighbours the next day, who took her to the hospital where the doctor informed the social worker at the hospital who alerted the police,” said Oshikoto police crime investigations coordinator

Naomi Katjiua.

The incident happened at Amilema A in the area of Onanke.

Also, in Oshikoto, another rape case was registered against a 17-year-old after it emerged he has been having sexual intercourse with his younger sister aged 14, who now happens to be pregnant. The incident allegedly happened on different occasions between

April and August this year.

Katjiua said the suspect and victim were sharing the same room at the homestead in the area of Okashana Komanya, although sleeping on different beds.

“It is alleged that the suspect had been forcefully having sexual intercourse with his sister on several occasions and threatened her not to tell anyone. However, last week she informed the grandmother who then told the elder sister, leading to a case being opened. A medical examination via urine was conducted and confirmed the pregnancy,” explained Katjiua.

The suspect was arrested and appeared in the Ondangwa court where he was denied bail.
