Security officer held for allegedly raping colleague

A woman was allegedly assaulted and raped by her colleague while at work in Otjomuise on Friday. The victim, who works along side the 32-year-old suspect as security guards, was according to the police ambushed and hit with an object on her head before she was sexually violated. According to police spokespers­on, Deputy Commission­er Kauna Shikwambi, after the assault, the victim and tthe suspect wrestled before the suspect overpowere­d her, undressed and allegedly raped her. After the incident, the victim reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested. The suspect now faces charges of rape and assault read with the provisions of Gender Based Violence Act.

In an unrelated incident, a 49-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually violating his three-year-old niece on Thursday at Aimablaagt­e in Mariental.

“It is alleged that the suspect who is the uncle to the victim allegedly slept with the victim and another minor on the same bed. The following day, the mother of the victim observed some abnormalit­ies in the walking of the victim and on closer inspection, she observed abnormalit­ies on her private part,” explained Shikwambi.

The victim was taken to the hospital and a doctor confirmed the abnormalit­ies.

The suspect has been arrested and now faces a charge of rape.

The police in Rehoboth arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly sexually

violating a 14-year-old girl.

According to the police report, the suspect invited the victim to his residence for a wine.

However, after a couple of rounds, the suspect forcefully had sexual intercours­e with the victim.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at Kuvukiland’s Block G.

Police investigat­ions are still ongoing in the matter.

A case of attempted rape was opened on Friday against a resident of Outjo following an attempt to rape an eight-year-old boy.

It is alleged that the victim was at home in Saamstaan location, Outjo when the suspect told him that he would sexually

violate him.

“The victim, hearing this, allegedly ran away but the suspect chased and caught him, held him on the throat and threw him to the ground and pulled his pants down. The victim screamed for help and a lady came to his rescue whereby she hit the suspect who was still holding on to the victim with rocks,” narrated Shikwambi.

The suspect was seriously injured and was taken to Outjo state hospital for treatment and thereafter transferre­d to Windhoek for further treatment under police guard.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical examinatio­n and the doctor certified that there was no penetratio­n.
