WALVIS BAY – The Popular Democratic Movement at the weekend announced it will throw its weight behind incumbent Walvis Bay Urban constituency councillor Knowledge Ipinge for the regional council vote.

Ipinge will be contesting as an independent candidate.

The Affirmative Repositioning movement, of which Ipinge is also part of, will also in return support the PDM candidate for the Walvis Bay Rural constituency.

Harhold Davids has been chosen as the PDM candidate for Walvis Bay Rural.

According to Davids, PDM decided not to stand for the Walvis Bay Urban constituency, saying Ipinge

was capable enough and can work along PDM for the betterment of the harbour town.

“We need the capacity to return and restore the dignity

and trust of our community, especially in the rural constituency. Those that were heading the constituency have been sitting on development programmes for years at the expense of our residents,” Davids said.

Davids added his aim was to redistribute the economical wealth of the town equally among its residents while, at the same time, reforming youth development programmes that would allow Walvis Bay to become the thriving economic town it was.

The party also introduced its local authority candidates for the ten-member Walvis Bay municipal council.

They are Future Kavei, Damian Mar a is, Danny Mork el, Sharon Isaaks, Samantha Uahanaua, Kieran Hayward, Renate Strauss, Alinda Plezens, Cornelia Nderura, Marsha Husfeld, Linette Booysen, Richard Hoaeb and current local authority councillor Valencia Izaaks.
