Rose Blvc wins big at the NAMAs
Newcomer Rose Blvc was the biggest winner of the Namibian Music Awards (NAMAs) 8th edition for scooping three awards including, Best Album of the Year, Best Female Artist of the Year, and Artist of the Year, taking home a bag of N$350 000 in one night.
Rose Blvc who is fresh in the music scene beat off competition from music giants such as Adora, Sally Boss Madam, Lize Ehlers, and Monique English to be named best Female Artist of the Year.
The Okahandja based artist simply said: “To be honest I did not expect it but I am blown away; I will keep pushing and people should expect more music content from me.”
Another artist to scoop the biggest award in the male category was Rapper Kp Illest who walked away with Best
Male Artist of the Year.
Talking to Entertainment Now! the highly decorated lyricist in the country said, “I do not know how to feel right now, I am so flattered. I appreciate the team that keeps supporting me and my fans who always push me to be the greatest.”
Asked what fans can expect from him this year, the ‘Okay Okay’ hitmaker was quick to reveal that he will be releasing a mixtape ‘Kill your television’ expected to be out next month.
The two-hour ceremony, which was originally scheduled for May at The Dome, Swakopmund was held at Maxwell Park on Saturday night.
While many artists performed in person, there was no live audience due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This weekend’s NAMAs were adorned by beautiful performances from the likes of Ethnix, PDK, Adora, Cassidy Karon, and Kp Illest who also
shed light on the current SGBV matter in the country.
The NAMAs will conclude next Saturday with categories for Best Newcomer, Artist of the Decade, and will welcome back on the NAMA stage a couple of Namibian legends such as Michael Owos Oas, Killa B, Ras Sheehama who had made a contribution to the music industry for the last 20 years.
