Visigoth wins Tsjaka October derby
EPUKIRO - Racehorse Visigoth from the Aminuis Racing Club continued its dominance in the Thoroughbred category with its latest victory on Saturday at the October Derby held at Tsjaka in the Omaheke region.
The competition was organised by the Aminuis Racing Club and saw a total of 104 horses from various racing clubs vying for the N$100 000 that was at stake at the 18 sprint event. The 2 000m was the main race, which was won by champion Visigoth and was followed by Okahandja-based Starlile and Rockley Beach in second and third places respectively.
Dream Girl came first in the 1 000m Nambred Maiden category, followed by Ekuva in second place while Karahii Kavari’s Okakueuva came third. Among other races, in the Import Maiden 1 000m race, Grizzard scooped first place while Here’s the Master came in second and Promise took the third spot.
In the Nambred D-Division category, Uaraa Tjiho’s Try Again came first followed by Bright Eye and Man to Man in second and third places. Earlier on, Jadernaut emerged victorious in 1 000m of the Import Graduation category followed by King Kotini in second place and Gimme the Light coming third.
Okahandja Racing’s Leeuloop scooped first place in the Nambred A-Division 2 000m race which was the main race for local horses. Seasonal racehorse Von Trotha came second while Tjiho’s Freedom Fighter came third. Another horse racing event is slated for Okahandja next month.
