Otjozondjupa business people invited to Expo 2020 Dubai
OTJIWARONGO – Members of the business community in the Otjozondjupa region were on Friday urged to participate in the Expo 2020 Dubai next year.
The expo, originally scheduled for this year, has been postponed to October 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but will retain the name Expo 2020 Dubai. The local technical committee on the expo from the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development, headed by former Ambassador to Austria Simon Madjumo Maruta on Friday did a presentation on the expo for a group of business people from Otjozondjupa, where he also extended a formal invitation to them to participate.
Marut a said the expo is a life time oppor tunity. “We want you to travel to Dubai and sell your products or meet potential business partners from different countries there,” he said.
Maruta said those who cannot make it to Dubai can also send their unique products to the event through his office and revenue generated from the sale of these products will go to the owners. He, however, cautioned the business residents to provide exceptional and unique products that will at the same time market Namibia at the expo. Maruta’s personal assistant, Michael Mutonga, informed the business people that they would have to pay for their own travel and accommodation. “We, however, can ship your products in a container and store them for the exhibition dates at our costs,” he said.
The expo will take place from 1 October 2021 until 31 March 2022 and is expected to attract 192 countries and 25 million visitors. A local business consultant who attended, Ndivhuho Moyo, told Nampa participating in the expo is a great opportunity, but attending would be too expensive.
The technical team from the ministr y has done similar presentations in the Zambezi, Kavango East, Kavango West, Erongo and Omaheke regions and will visit the Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena and Oshikoto regions next. – Nampa
