Tjozongoro guarantees greater security
The Swapo candidate contesting the Windhoek East constituency, Felix Tjozongoro, has promised residents greater protection if elected in this month’s regional council elections.
Tjozongoro told New Era issues of theft and rampant housebreaking that have been recorded in the affluent constituency would be a thing of the past once elected. He said with the help of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), he will be clearing bushes in and around the constituency that are being used as hiding spots for criminals.
“My pursuit as a Swapo party candidate for the Windhoek East constituency is to ultimately be responsible for and to make life easier for those I will be representing once elected as councillor,” he vowed. “As opposed to some candidates that do not reside within the borders of Windhoek East, how will they proactively represent your aspirations? I am no stranger to community involvement, case in point, I have been involved in
the past in community activities such as keeping our constituency clean, the exercise which involved our armed forces residing in the two major bases in our constituency.”
He said he will mobilise constituency residents to partake in de-bushing exercises to ensure the cleanliness of the constituency neighbourhood. “With the help of the force we will be clearing all these riverbeds that are used by criminals as hideouts after break-ins,” he said. He added that clean-up operations will not only be limited to removing trees but will be extended to removing rubble and waste paper and the likes in all suburbs.
“Our men and women in uniform are always ready to assist when called upon, as a political head, I will mobilise them to help,” he said. Also, he said, something that has been brought to his attention is the lack of taxi ranks in the constituency. “Our house helpers are being charged double the price when using taxis. This is because we don’t have taxi ranks here. This is one of the issues I will address once elected. This exploitation I will ensure comes to an end. With my extensive knowledge in and as a road safety specialist, I am assuring you that this matter will receive my utmost immediate attention and action,” he said. “This matter will not be a mountain to resolve, for I have worked with the taxi industry and in the transport sector all my life. Once in office, this will be placed on my six months to do list.”
