Rose BLVC bags almost half a million at NAMAs
Newcomer Rose BLVC caused a major upset at the final instalment of this year’s Namibian Music Awards (NAMAs) for scooping four awards in total, including Best Newcomer, Best Album of the Year, Best Female Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year, taking home a bag of N$410 000.
The Female Artist of the Year told Entertainment Now! she feels grateful for the recognition after beating stiff competition in the tough categories in which she was nominated.
I am just so grateful for the recognition; it has been a rough journey but God sees your drive to make it and he really came through for me,” she mentioned.
Quizzed as to her plans with the cash prize money, she was quick to point out she is not making any hasty decisions in that regard yet.
“I am taking my time right now with any other decisions that are not already set. Might take a vacation and get back to making more genuine music that I believe people can always relate to,’’ she explained.
Some music enthusiasts have felt the Okahandja-based artist has come out of nowhere, scooping the most sought after awards while her peers should have been crowned instead of her. To this, the calm jazz musician said: “Unfortunately, you can only be in control of certain things; the rest will unfold in time. Let love lead always. God is great,’’ she said.
Rose BLVC grew up in Okahandja most of her life and music is second nature to her. She always loved singing but did not have the courage in the past. Her musical universe is between Jazz and a fusion of Reggae and Soul.
“I have grown through this journey since I started my first show at the Hilton Kalabar for Jazz; now, I am really giving it all of me. My piece of therapy,’’ she ended.
