FlyWestair to fly from Eros Airport to coast
FlyWestair has introduced scheduled flights between Eros Airport in Windhoek and Walvis Bay every Friday and Sunday, starting on 20 November 2020.
“For the first time in years, Namibians and travellers will have the convenience of a direct flight between Eros Airport, conveniently situated in Windhoek’s city centre, and Walvis Bay. In addition, the schedule will allow residents of the coast to travel to the north, as the schedule will connect to Ondangwa every Friday and return to the coast every Sunday,” says Fredrico Ribeiro, Business Development Manager at FlyWestair.
He added that the flight schedule was devised with convenience in mind. Passengers can travel both ways over weekends, allowing individuals working in Walvis Bay and living in Ondangwa or Windhoek to go home for a weekend. In addition, Windhoekers can break away for a weekend at the coast in a convenient, safe and timeefficient manner.
The new route will offer a link between Eros Airport and the coast, a route that has not been available in many years. This travel option from Eros will cut out travelling time to and from Hosea Kutako International Airport. Additionally, the duration of the flight is a mere 30 minutes, saving business and leisure travellers even more time. The route will be operated with a pressurised twin-engine aircraft or Embraer EMB 145 jet, depending on passenger loads.
Less than a month ago, FlyWestair was the first Namibian airline to resume scheduled flights between Cape Town and Windhoek, twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, and recently, became the first privately owned Namibian airline to connect Windhoek to Johannesburg every Tuesday and Thursday.
Since resuming flights, FlyWestair has maintained an ontime dispatch reliability of 99.3%, and have carried more than 3 000 passengers. By providing a vital link between Windhoek and South Africa, FlyWestair is supporting the revival of travel and the tourism industry in Namibia.
