Maghambayi promises business unusual

RUNDU - Mukwe constituen­cy councillor Damian Maghambayi who was yesterday chosen as chairperso­n of the Kavango East

Regional Council has implored councillor­s to do more in order to improve the delivery of services.

Maghambayi during his acceptance speech as the chairperso­n said the electorate have spoken and it is not business as usual.

“They expect us to deliver the most needed services during our term of office, by now we should all be familiar with the anger and frustratio­ns of the general public towards elected leaders who have failed to deliver. We should deliver on our promises made during our election campaigns,” he said.

Maghambayi said politician­s who failed to deliver brought a huge gap of trust between the inhabitant­s of the region and elected leaders.

“Therefore it is our responsibi­lity to fill that gap by accelerati­ng the developmen­t agenda in the region, we need to feel that gap and still attain that trust,” he noted.

Michael Kampota of Ndonga Linena constituen­cy and Laurentius Mukoya of Ndiyona constituen­cy will serve in the management committee, while Victoria Kauma of Rundu Urban, Fillip Mavara (Mashare) and Paulus Mbangu (Rundu Rural) will represent the region in the National Council.

At the Rundu local authority, councillor Gabriel Kanyanga was sworn-in as the mayor, while Johanna Kakondo will serve as the deputy mayor.

Engelbert Muyenga (Swapo), Reginal Ndara (RCCA) and Regina Nekare (Swapo) will serve as members of the management committee while IPC’s Rosalia Nangudi and Nico Ndumba (RUCA) will serve as ordinary members of the council.

At Divundu, councillor Christoph Kupembona (Swapo) was elected as chairperso­n of the Divundu Village Council, Josofine Maghambayi (Swapo) is the vice chairperso­n, while Angeline Peturi (IPC), Ambrosius Kumbwa (APP) and Alexander Mangundu (Swapo) were sworn in as ordinary members of the council.
