Goals galore in NFA Women Super Cup

-

It was goals galore in the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Women’s Super League ‘Bounce Back Women Super Cup’ after 47 goals were scored over six matches that kicked off on Friday in Windhoek at the NFA Technical Centre.

The winners of the 2019 Skorpion Zinc Women’s Super League, Tura Magic Ladies annihilated Namibia University of Science and Technology Babes Football Club (FC) by 17-1 on Saturday. The matches started on Friday in Windhoek.

In results provided by NFA Women’s Desk’s Jacky Gertze on Saturday, Galz & Goals brushed aside Right Way FC 4-0 in the opening match Friday night at the NFA Technical Centre, while on Saturday V-Power Angels beat coastal girls, Namib Daughters 2-1, with Khomas Namibian Police FC hammering University of Namibia (UNAM) 5-1 at the UNAM field.

Newcomers, Okahandja FC showed Omaheke Queens that they are no pushovers in a match they won 4-3, while in the battle of the rookies, Ramblers were held by Okakarara Golden Ladies in an 8-goal thriller with the match ending in a 4-4 stalemate.

Gertze said the quality of matches played was good although the players had a long lay-off. “The defending league champions, Tura Magic had no mercy for last season’s bottom team NUST Babes, while the new teams such as Ramblers and Okahandja were impressive in this first round of the tournament, but overall we are pleased with what we saw,” Gertze said.

She further said they are grateful to Alfred Ndyenge who sponsored two teams with new soccer kits. “We were blessed with a kit sponsorship from 6mo9, a local sports brand to Okahandja FC and Okakarara Golden Ladies. They are guest teams in the Premiership tournament, and it was so generous from him who called us and said he will sponsor those two new teams a full kit,” said Gertze. The matches will continue this week. The winning team is set to walk away N$40 000 in prize money. -
