The Road Traffic and Transport Act, 1999 (Act 22 of 1999), outlines the provisions that must be followed by all public road users in Namibia. The Act deals with regulating behaviours of motorists and also sets out conditions that ensure vehicles are roadworthy before moving on public roads.

As we are embarking on the festive season, this means that public roads countrywide will see an increase in traffic volumes of traffic and congestion. Namibia has one of the highest statistics of road accidents, especially on the B1 Road, which is the national highway of Namibia, stretching from the south to north.
