DESPITE the slowdown of economic activities in the current recessionary environment exacerbated by Covid-19, local IT company, Tangwe’s Trading has managed to stay focussed on its digital business model that has provided continuous momentum through trying times. By staying true to its vision of servicing Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Tangwe Trading recently reported a N$4 million profit margin since its inception in 2015.

This impressive figure in a tough business environment was confirmed by founder, Johannes Natangwe Ngwena, a qualified Information Technology (IT) technician with six years of experience in the IT industry. Ngwena said since the company commenced operations it has become one of the fast growing SME service providers in Namibia.

Tangwe’s Trading offers a wide range of products and services such as Point of Sale (POS), computer accessories, printing designs, IT systems, software development, and many others. With its POS as the main source of income, Tangwe’s Trading has evolved to become a prime administration solutions services provider on the business information systems front.

Its POS service has also managed to grow a respectable business portfolio and has registered as a business partner with IQ Retail, a company that offers a comprehensive range of integrated software. “So far Tangwe Trading has installed POS systems for hundreds of business units, ranging from restaurants and take-aways, bars, grocery stores, clothing outlets, construction hardware retailers, and lodges,” said Ngwena. He added the business also supplied computer hardware services and stationery part of its administration solutions mandate.

“Most of the beneficiaries of Tangwe’s Trading inventory management and administration solutions are SMEs, which proved to be one of the developmental goals. This has brought order and sustainability to start-ups, as they can have total control over their inventory,” Ngwena explained.

He noted that the most significant part of Tangwe’s core business has been technological education as SMEs are trained how the POS systems work including all aspects from hardware to the graphic user interface.

“The most important skills are imparted on the stocktaking, entry of products into the system, changing prices, and detecting any theft or losses,” said Ngwena, saying that Tangwe’s POS services has consistently delivered products and services that have created a strong and sustainable customer base.

“For the past five years, we had been a journey based on natural growth and commitment to service delivery. We train business owners on how to benefit from our products, and we make a followups on system maintenance or clients facing application problems,” Ngwena concluded.
