After successfully defending his WBO Global title this past weekend at the Windhoek Country Club Resort, Namibian boxer Jeremiah “LowKey” Nakathila has another tough task ahead of him after being tipped to fight against American boxer Ash-Shakur Nafi-Shahid Stevenson.

Saturday’s triumph has handed the Namibian a chance to challenge for the long-awaited world title fight. The 30-year-old boxer now boasts a record of 22 fights with 21 wins and 1 loss, while his American opponent has a record of 15 fights with 15 straight wins.

Although month and dates have not been confirmed yet, Promoter Nestor Tobias is confident the fight will happen early next year.

The match between the two boxers, who are all in the same division, which is the junior lightweight, will see the winner automatically challenging for the highly-rated world title.

In a statement that was released by MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy, Nakathila said it’s clear with evidence that he is the best in the division. He further said he is not scared of any boxers who are in the same division as he is – and that he is ready to prove his worth.

“Tonight, I have proven that I am one of the best in this division in the world. I am clear about who I want to fight next. The supposed best in this division has been ducking me for a long time now,”

“Herring is now doing his 2nd voluntary against Frampton and we all know he should have faced me by now. I am not going to sit around any longer and wait for them. I am, therefore, sending a clear and strong message to Herring and Stevenson; the time has come to face Nakathila. You can claim you don’t know much about me but all that matters is my record”

“Let us stop talking and make real fights in this division and give the fans what they want. I am ready to prove my worth because I am not scared of anybody,” said a very confident-looking Nakathila, who means business,” said Nakathila.

Meanwhile, Nestor Tobias said it has been proven Nakathila is the best in the division and he believes the fight against an American opponent will only give him his fair chance to fight for the world champion.

“It’s clear that Nakathila is the best boxer in that division if everything is well set up; I promise you Low-key will take him down. I think he’s also aware of what kind of opponent he is going to take on. When he accepts this challenge, we will be assured that he’s going to take him down,” Tobias said.
