NCSVC overpowers Six Stars

ONDANGWA – Namibian Correction­al Service Volleyball Club (NCSVC) on Saturday dominated Six Stars Volleyball Club (SSVC) during their Far North Volleyball Associatio­n (FNVA) 2021 season games held at the Ondangwa tennis court.

SSVC, who are regarded as having the youngest, most energetic and talented players in the FNVA, were not at their best during the day when they faced NCSVC, and lost 3-0. NCSVC were unstoppabl­e, and also beat Nakapele Volleyball Club (NVC) 3-1 in a four-set match before they faced SSVC in the encounter that was rated as the battle for Ondangwa in volleyball games.

Other teams that were also in action during the weekend for their league games were Green Side Volleyball Club (GSVC), Medipark Volleyball Club (MVC), and Ekuku Volleyball Club (EVC).

MVC locked horns with GSVC in the game that ended 3-1 in their favour after four sets of volleyball.

GSVC could not take a win to Eenhana town, and lost their second match by 3-2 against

NVC after five sets of volleyball.

Oshakati-based EVC did not match the speed and tactics of MVC, and lost the game 3-0 to the boys from Ongwediva. Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Oshana NamPol

Volleyball Club beat NVC by 3-0.

In an interview with Nampa on Saturday, FNVA secretary general Festus Hamukwaya said the teams had shown improvemen­t in every game they played so far, and he is happy with their performanc­es on the day.

“Teams are picking up their fitness day by day, and we are looking forward to starting with our second round games, slated for 5 June at Grootfonte­in,” he added.
