Nauseb calls for squad overhaul at Kaizer Chiefs

Brave Warriors great and retired Kaizer Chiefs midfield kingpin, Robert Nauseb has raised his frustrations about what is happening at his former club and says 15 new players are needed amid reports of a looming exodus.

Chiefs have been a concoction of confusion this season under Gavin Hunt, playing with courage on rare occasions yet regularly delivering performances that are not reflective of the kind of club they are.

That they have sunk to the bottom half of the standings proves just how wishy-washy they have been, having won just six out of their 24 league games thus far.

“The team needs at least 15 quality players that they need to bring in. You can laugh but I am being serious about what I am saying. Chiefs need more hungry players than what they have at the moment,” Nauseb tells KickOff.com.

“To be honest with you, there is a lot of question marks on a lot of players at Chiefs and the players have to assess themselves. If you look at a lot of senior players, like the (Mulomowandau) Mathohos, you will find that they are also not helping the situation. I see Bernard Parker has been trying to step up but then that is the bare minimum that you need your senior players to be doing every week. He should be doing more than that every week.

“Many a senior player at Chiefs is not helping the situation. To be honest, the team just needs to assess what they have and the coach knows what he really wants and the team needs to make a decision to get rid of whoever they have to get rid of.

“The situation at Chiefs is worse than people on the outside have been thinking it is. The rot is deeper than we see from a distance and it is showing now. Do you think everyone is pulling in the same direction at Chiefs? Chiefs don’t look like a team that trains together anymore. It is like they are guys who meet for games on match day. So much has to be fixed there going into next season. The uncertainty about who will stay and who will be released is creating tension, where it is now one man for himself.”
