Erongo, Hardap inhabitants face similar problems - Andre
Inhabitants' of the Erongo and Hardap regions are faced with similar problems such as poverty, unemployment and unequal distribution of resources, Erongo governor Neville Andre Itope has said.
Itope made the remarks on Monday at the occasion of the visit of Hardap governor Salomon April and his delegation to the region to discuss areas of mutual cooperation, and to visit some fishing and mining companies to solicit support for development initiatives in the Hardap region.
“Jointly, we are committed to bringing about lasting and sustainable solutions to our people to improve their livelihoods. We have briefly touched on some of the areas of cooperation between our two regions, which include, but are not exclusive on how we could continue discussing the blue economy and the coastal zone management programme which had so many progressive activities, and how we could take those activities that are outstanding forward,” Itope said.
He added that on enhanced participatory development and human rights-based service delivery, the office of the Erongo governor would want to learn more about this programme from
Hardap to ensure that people are involved in a participatory manner on development planning and service delivery as nobody needs to feel left out.
The delegation was set to visit the Rössing Uranium Mine, Husab Mine, Tunacor Fishing, Etosha Fishing, Benguela Fishing and Hangana Fishing.
At the end of the visit today, the Hardap governor is expected to issue a statement on the findings and outcomes of the trip.
