The founder of Afrikan Child Daycare and pre-grade school, Festus Mbangula is seeking financial help and donations as the school struggles with a lack of resources.

The school is registered with the gender equality ministry and offers early childhood education for children in the Oshaakondwa constituency of the Oshikoto region and surrounding areas.

Established in 2015, Mbangula said the school is affected by the shortage of learning materials, which makes teaching or learning difficult. Some of the materials needed are two filing cabinets, chalkboards, a printing machine, square tubes, and many more.

The school caters to 42 learners, and the staff include two teachers and two caregivers.

“Until now, we continue to enrol toddlers for both pre-grade and daycare,” he said.

Mbangula added they intend to advance the school to junior primary education, by adding grade 1 and 2 classes and also revamp the classrooms.

“Since our establishment, we continuously strive to create conducive teaching, learning and nurturing environment for our children, educators, and caregivers. Henceforth, to prepare for grade 1 and 2 learners’ classrooms, we plan to revamp two classrooms, the school office, and a storeroom,” he noted.

In addition, he expressed dismay at private stakeholders for their unwillingness to provide support to kindergartens that set the path and provide a foundation for children as they progress in life.

“I wish most children over the country had the privilege of being groomed well from a very young age to help them directly and to develop and expand their interests and unique talents. It would be best if someone could come on board to render support, either by donating materials or giving financial support,” pleaded Mbangula.
