Sports Expo could go virtual
Organisers of the Namibia Sports Expo yesterday said the ongoing effects of Covid-19 have forced them to think out of the box and this year, they are considering hosting the annual sports expo virtually.
One of the organisers, Tjeripo Musutua said they are strongly looking at September to host the expo virtually in order to allow more local and international exhibitors to participate.
The event was officially inaugurated in 2019 and saw various exhibitors from different parts of the country and the SADC region converging at Windhoek’s Independence and Hage Geingob stadia to showcase some of their sports products.
Although Musutua could not unpack all the details around this year’s expo as planning is still ongoing, he did, however, add that they will ensure the expo covers all sports codes and all exhibitors are accorded a fair opportunity to showcase their products and works.
“The concept of the event is yet to be confirmed and will soon be communicated. We have secured the month of September for the expo but how long the expo will take place, will also be communicated in due course,” he said. The expo is the country’s biggest international show dedicated to the sports, fitness and health industries. It puts special emphasis on the local manufacturing industry intending to showcase and connect them with potential investors in attendance at the expo.
More importantly, the expo in its design aims to strategically bring together a diverse range of national and international sports organisations, sports goods and equipment manufacturers, technology and innovation providers along with sports retailers, dealers, distributors, sports marketing professionals, sports media experts as well as local and international sports federations, national associations and other internationally renowned sports leaders under one roof.
