UNESCO, in partnership with French luxury fashion house Dior, will be hosting a mentorship programme for young women around the world.

The programme is an extension of the Women@ Dior mentorship initiative, which has already helped over 1 000 young women by pairing them with Dior employees, who took on the role of mentors.

Dior is a member of the Global Education Coalition, established by UNESCO in 2017, to provide young women and students with education and mentoring on issues such as entrepreneurship and leadership.

Fashion Council of Namibia (FCN) Corporate affairs director David Wamambo told VIBEZ! this project lays out an opportunity for Namibian beneficiaries.

“It will offer our members an opportunity to rub shoulders with key players in the global market. Dior is one of the biggest luxury fashion brands in the world, and is creating a networking and educational platform for members to not only grow their skills and creativity but to expand their brand within and beyond the Namibian borders,” he said.

Created in 2017, Women@Dior is a unique international mentoring and educational programme that has coached and helped blossom thousands of young women all over the world.

According to the statement from UNESCO, the programme is a unique occasion to learn what is not taught: self-confidence and to dare for career destiny.

“Participants will be selected based on the criteria: talent, ambition and generosity. All participants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors programme, fluent in English, and have a reliable internet connection to participate in the online classes and discussions,” reads the statement.

Participants of the programme will also create a “Dream for Change” project that supports the empowerment of girls and young women.

Combining high standards and excellence, the multi-layered and ethically-conscious year-long programme is open to 500+ international students and is based on the four core values of Women@Dior: autonomy, inclusion, creativity and sustainability, which are taught through exclusive courses, led by professors who are chosen from some of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
