//Kharas rocked by two gruesome deaths
KEETMANSHOOP— Not only did Covid-19 rob many residents of Namibia’s south of their loved ones, two gruesome deaths also rocked the //Kharas region this weekend.
Chrispin Mubebo, //Kharas regional crime investigations coordinator, informed New Era that a senior officer from the Women and Child Protection Unit in town allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend, Yvette Louw (38) in Tseiblaagte, Keetmanshoop by inflicting multiple stab wounds on her body.
‘’The suspect continued to stab Louw’s boyfriend Hannes Jansen several times on his body, but not fatally,’’ he added. Jansen’s condition is said to be stable after being treated and released from the Keetmanshoop State Hospital.
Mubebo explained that the suspect and deceased were previously living in an abusive relationship, while a protection order was issued for them not to visit each other’s houses.
“The suspect has been arrested and placed in custody to be charged, and will appear before court on Monday,’’ said the police officer. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed, while police investigations continue.
In a separate incident, a 30-yearold female suspect from Area 7,
Lüderitz has been arrested on charges of murder, concealment of birth and defeating or obstructing the course of justice between 12 and 14 June 2021. “The suspect went to the Lüderitz State Hospital on 14 June 2021, complaining of vaginal pains. Medical examinations then indicated that she had delivered a baby,’’ Mubebo said.
He added that the suspect then confessed to the medical doctor examining her that she had delivered a baby in the mountains, and left it there. The police later discovered the dead body. The suspect will appear in court next week, while police investigations are continuing.
