Man stabs girlfriend to death

A 36-year-old woman died on the spot after she was allegedly stabbed by her 50-year-old boyfriend in the Ongulumbas­he informal settlement in Windhoek on Saturday.

The police weekend crime report said the victim was identified as Magrietha Williams.

The incident occurred around 16h30 on Saturday.

Williams was allegedly stabbed in her right breast while trying to stop a fight that broke out between her boyfriend and another man.

“Williams tried to stop the fight by separating the two men and was allegedly stabbed by the boyfriend. The suspect was arrested,” said the report.

A 28-year-old man identified as Rymenton Vleermuis died on the spot after he was run over by a vehicle while trying to cross the B1 road in Windhoek’s Northern Industrial Area Friday afternoon.

A 33-year-old woman identified as Namwandi Elizabeth Kambushe also died on the spot after she was allegedly hit by a vehicle while crossing the road in Klein Windhoek on Friday around 23h00.

“It is alleged that the deceased was

trying to cross the road with her friend at the time of the incident,” the report added, noting that a case of culpable homicide and driving a motor vehicle while under influence of alcohol or narcotic effects was opened against the 29-year-old driver.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Shihepo Teofelus Hilifa died on the spot in an accident on the Omatando-Ongwediva gravel road on Sunday.

It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle Hilifa was travelling in lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the road before crashing into a tree.

The next of kin of the deceased in all matters were informed of their deaths and police investigat­ions continue.
