NSSCO results out tomorrow
Learners who were anxious and in the dark over the date of their grade 12 results can breathe a sigh of relief after the ministry announced that the results will officially come out tomorrow. This was confirmed by the education ministry’s executive director, Sanet Steenkamp.
She said 40 362 learners sat for Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO) level examinations, and the ministry is now in a position to release the results of these candidates.
All the part-time candidates who wrote the 2021 NSSCO and NSSCH (higher level) examinations’ legacy curriculum are reminded to have their candidate numbers at hand to be able to access their results.
Although local and international universities have resumed classes already, many former Grade 12 pupils have been sitting at home while waiting for their results.
Steenkamp added that the results will be available on the website of the ministry of education at www. moe.gov.na, or alternatively via text message as well as in the print media.
A candidate is expected to send a message with their full candidate number to either 99099 or 55755. Thereafter, one’s candidate number and results will be displayed on the screen of their cellphone.
The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) has assured such candidates that they can still apply for funding before their results are out.
NSFAF spokesperson Olavi Hamwele said the 2021 grades 11 and 12 candidates can apply for funding before their results are released.
“Please note that applications will close on 31 March 2022. Upon validation, provided that the results are released before or on 31 March 2022, provisional awards shall be released by the end of April 2022,” he stated.
The delayed release of the results was triggered by the theft of grades 11 and 12 National Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSCO) examination papers, which saw affected subjects rewritten in January and February this year.
The early release of results normally affords Namibian candidates who applied to further their studies to present their statements of results to recipient institutions of higher learning.
To make matter worse, the universities’ dates for late registration are also near, which could potentially leave some of these grade 12 candidates without a place at university if they excel academically.
Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) spokesperson Nico Smit said the university will endeavour to assist all affected candidates, and they are discussing options internally for every eventuality.
“Ultimately, we hope that all results will be released before 11 March 2022,” he added hopefully then.
NUST indicated its dates for late registration were 14 to 18 February 2022, while special registration ran from 1 to 11 March 2022 (NSSCO and NSSCAS).
The International University of Management (IUM) assured these candidates that its door remains
open for them.
“IUM prides itself as the Namibian university dedicated to its people’s future. As such, we do not wish to see any qualifying and deserving child enter university to be disadvantaged or left behind due to our society’s bureaucratic systems. Therefore, while our closing date for registration was Monday, 7 March, we have made special arrangements for the applicants from this group to register from 14-18 March 2022. We wish those who are waiting for their results the best of luck,” IUM spokesperson Gerry Munyama noted.
The University of Namibia (Unam)’s spokesperson John Haufiku said the university stuck to 4 March as the cut off-date for late registration.
