I want to score 10 more goals, says record-chasing Shalulile
With 15 league goals to his name already this season, Peter Shalulile has set his sights on Collins Mbesuma’s record of 25 goals in a single PSL season.
The fact that the record has stood from the 2004/05 season shows just how much of a tough task beating the Zambian’s record has been. However, if there is one man who stands every chance of equalling it, it is Shalulile.
The Namibian has been in inspiring form for the Brazilians this season and has managed to score 21 goals in all competitions already. In the DStv Premiership, he is leading the way in terms of goals with 15 strikes to his name, although he says he is aiming for 10 more in the remaining seven matches of the campaign.
“With the games that remain, I am just aiming for the team to do well as a whole. My personal achievements and goals are to score 10 more goals, which is possible, and I believe with my teammates that are there to help me that it’s much more possible to do it,” Shalulile told Sundowns’ official website.
He also recently became the first player to manage 20 goals in two consecutive seasons for Sundowns, the first player to do so since Daniel Mudau, and he has attributed the achievement to the advice he receives from the Sundowns technical team.
“There are certain things that I work on to improve my game: to do extra work and listen to the coaches because they know what they are doing. They are there to teach and we are there to learn. I also watch a lot of clips of football players that play in my position,” he added.
