Decentralised ministries receive free offices
OTJIWARONGO - The Otjozondjupa regional council on Tuesday announced that decentralised government ministries will be given free office accommodation at the newlybuilt regional council office park situated in Otjiwarongo.
Regional council spokespersonCorneliaShikongo said the new office park for the regional council has enough office space for all ministries and government agencies to be decentralised.
The two new buildings have a total of 108 office units in both the two and three-storey buildings.
Shikongo added that officials of the regional council are only 52 at Otjiwarongo, including chief regional officer Agatha Mweti.
“We want to provide a onestop-shop for all government services right here at the regional council. This is in order to ease the burden of people who are travelling from various places for our services,” she explained.
So far, the ministries of health and education, which have been decentralised to the ORC building, have received keys to their offices at the new regional office park.
Otjozondjupa governor
James Uerikua and his officials have also secured spacious offices, including officials of the Otjiwarongo constituency.
The construction of these new two buildings was funded by the government in 2014 and 2016, respectively, through the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development at a cost of N$17 million for phase one, and N$122 million for phase two, bringing the total cost to N$139 million.
The two buildings consist of conference centres, offices for executives and junior officials, boardrooms, reception areas, a kitchen and two council chambers.
The three-storey building has blocks A, B and C all fitted with a lift, security services, an alarm and air- conditioners, noted Shikongo.
