How have you stayed AFloAt wItH your mEntAl HEAltH tHIs yEAr?

I prayed a lot. I’m a firm believer in the power that prayer holds. Prayer kept me afloat, plus keeping positive company.

WHAt wErE your HIGHlIGHts oF tHE yEAr or tHE InDustry you CrEAtE In?

Yoh, so many but to summarise: dancing with Top Cheri really opened doors for me, performing on the same stage as Koffi Olomide and Burna Boy is something I still can’t believe, getting an international dance deal which is still ongoing, and definitely all the choreography deals I got through my TikTok page.

WHAt DID you ACComplIsH tHIs yEAr tHAt you’rE most prouD oF?

Travelling out of Africa. I don’t come from a well-off background, so for me to travel out of the continent and not on my parents’ expense, at the age of 20 – that’s definitely a win for me.

WHAt EvEnt or pErson mADE your yEAr?

Top Cheri made my year. She took me to towns I’ve never been to but always wanted to go to, all in the name of gigs, and that’s an experience I’ll always treasure.

WHAt wAs tHE BIGGEst lEsson (s) you lEArnED tHIs yEAr?

That your circle can make or break you.

WHAt wAs your worD/ sAyInG For tHE yEAr?

“God’s favourite girly”. I would call myself that, no matter the circumstances, as a reminder that everything will work out in my favour because I’m God’s favourite.

Working with Standard Bank on the Tap & Trend challenge was definitely my favourite because that was my first corporate project.

Thisyear,Cassijejessicataughtme about the power of networking, so I definitely didn’t shy away from having conversations with people whom I knew could help me grow my brand.

WHAt proJECt HAvE you put oFF tHAt you rEAlly wAnt to Do?

Nothing at the moment because it’s safe to say, I’ve done all projects I drafted this year.

WHAt Do you wIsH you knEw BEForE GEttInG Into tHE InDustry?

That no matter how good you are, people will not pay you what you rightfully deserve for working with them. So, you genuinely need to stand your ground, and not settle for gigs that aren’t respecting your rates.
