REQUESTED by the large number of people she regularly counsels to write a book, Toini Sam heeded the call and last week unveiled ‘The Journey of a Conqueror’ at the National Library of Namibia with Bishop Maponga Joshua III Marara as keynote speaker. At the launch, Sam acknowledged her drive to pen this easy-to-read book, saying she was inspired by the challenges she has faced in her life and by the number of people she encourages and mentors to discover their hidden abilities.

“It all started when I used to share Godly messages on Facebook and on the WhatsApp group ‘Ambassadors for Christ’ and also through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I feel like I have a sense of obligation to uplift many and it makes me feel good to hear positive feedback from those I have engaged with,” she said.

Sam, an accountant by profession, noted that she aims to boost readers’ confidence while uplifting and building them.

The content has met international standards, she said proudly.

“My book was reviewed by Christian Faith publishing in the United States of America, and went through five boards for review and it was approved.”

Sam said she chose to self-publish as it is cheaper and leaves the author in control and used local service providers because she believes in supporting local and wants them to also be recognised internationally.

On his part, Marara said the author is exploring her own path and the challenges she has gone through to be where she is.

“I encourage us all to tell our own stories with our own culture and identity which makes it easily relatable to those in your communities,” he said.

Marara added that the book is not prescriptive, but rather suggests that all must make time to find their own voices. “They must forge their own path and learn from own mistakes.”
