We have no intentions to slow down – Mbakera

…as Debmarine Premiership continues

- Otniel Hembapu

After a well-deserved break, African Stars coach Mervin Mbakera has said it will again be back to the grindstone for his charges as they seek to further consolidate their perfect run in the Debmarine Namibia Premiership.

This weekend, Stars return to action against traditional hoodoo team Life Fighters at the Mariental sport stadium, and coach Mbakera is confident that they are well prepared to get the job done against the unpredictable Otjiwarongo side.

“Look, our approach to matches will always be the same and that is to say we will take it one match at a time and make sure we execute our game plan. Obviously, it is not going to get any easier as the league progresses but our ultimate aim is to win the league, and to win the league we need to win matches as they come. So, it will be no different against Life Fighters on Saturday and I know the boys will be ready for the task at hand,” said a confident Mbakera.

“We have been training hard and even had some warm-up matches against local teams, so that is all in an effort to ensure we remain in top shape and ready to take it to the very limit in our mission to win the league.”

On Sunday, Stars takes on Julinho Sporting at the same venue in Mariental and Mbakera remains wary of the dangers posed by the Rundu-based outfit, who have also generally been in great shape.

“On Sunday, we take on Julinho and it will be another tough match but we want to make our supporters happy. I’m urging all our supporters at the town of Mariental and surrounding areas to come out in numbers and rally behind the boys as their support is always valuable. We are going out for maximum points this weekend,” added the coach.
