Hashiyana Mospider, a thirdyear diesel mechanic student at Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology, has been making waves in the music scene with his debut album, ‘Think Before You Leap’.

While focusing on his studies, he has dedicated himself to crafting motivational Kwaito tracks that resonate with both youth and adults.

His musical journey began in 2019 in his days at Ponhofi Senior Secondary School, where he, along with friends T-Zen and Dande Nation, formed the group, ‘Savanah Kids’.

They gained popularity on social media platforms like TikTok, eventually landing gigs and shows.

“I focus on school and continue writing and recording once I get free time to do so. I have decided to move on and record more songs just to come up with an album, because my fans are always asking me when the album will be released. I am motivated by no one, but I know that God gave me a true talent that will secure and open my success gates,” he said.

The album features collaborations with local artists, such as Exit Rockaz, Dande Nation and Sergio Onestar.

His music carries a strong message of empowerment and self-reliance, encouraging listeners to pursue their dreams and avoid negative influences.

His song, ‘Muushimba’, advises on navigating city life and avoiding pitfalls like joining gangs.

“I am good at singing any type of beat – whether Kwaito, Afro-Pop, Reggae or others. But, I respect the Kwaito songs because they give me the energy to do something without worrying whenever I am listening to them – either mine or from other talented local and international artists,” he said.

However, he acknowledges the challenges of balancing music and academics.

Financing quality recordings and collaborations remains a hurdle; fans enjoying his music for free on social media platforms without supporting his production costs.

Despite these challenges, he remains driven by his faith and talent, determined to inspire others through his music.

His debut album is now available nationwide, showcasing his dedication to both his education and his musical aspirations.
