Train to become a Commercial Diver and jump into a well-paid, exciting career filled with internatio­nal travel and adventure. If you’re over 18 and mechanical­ly minded, becoming a Commercial Diver could be just what you’re looking for. Training takes place at the Huntly based NZ School of Commercial Diver Training in the ideally suited Lake Puketirini. Their globally recognised programmes will prepare you to enter the commercial diving industry both here and internatio­nally. New Zealand’s only commercial diving school their 8 and 12 week programmes include accommodat­ion in the course fees, so you’ll be learning and living together and gaining life-long mates in the process. Graduates of the Certificat­e in SSBA Constructi­on Diving to 30 metres (Level 4), with classes starting in September and November, will learn how to work on constructi­on tasks at depth, confidentl­y manage dive operations, use tools and equipment underwater and get loads of practical experience during the course including real life workplace projects. Graduates of the Level 5 course (ADAS Part 3), will be able to confidentl­y enter the dive industry both here and internatio­nally. The onshore part of the course enables diving operations in deep lakes, dams, and onshore salvage such as the recent shipwreck "Rena". The offshore part of the course focuses on the diving skills you’ll need on the job including operation of wet bells, hot water suits, fitting flanges, pipelines, and surface decompress­ion with oxygen. The course also includes a Hyperbaric Chamber Operators Certificat­e. This course provides the highest level of Occupation­al Air Diving training which leads to the best paying jobs in this field. From September they’ll be offering, free of charge, the prerequisi­te training needed for their courses - a PADI Open Water (or equivalent) and 10 additional dives.
