‘BEAR BIG’ WITH ROCCO JAMIESON

-

I was nearly asleep when Mum came in and told me we were going to Big Bear. I was excited but tired. I next day was packing. When I was getting ready for my trip I was amping. We had to drive to Christchurch. This was the boring part but I got to see my Nan and pop and my cousins too. My dog Indy had to go to the kennels so I was sad for most of the day but the good part was we were on the plane. We were in Fiji for 3hrs straight. It was so boring waiting in the airport. I wished we could go out to see the people and animals but we weren’t allowed to. I wanted to go and see the toys but Mum had other ideas. We had to go to the makeup for at least an hour or two and Mum had to try all of them on. After that nightmare was done we were on the plane finally. The next day we landed at the airport. It was so big. Everything was big, food, drinks, airports, houses, even the people. I got used to it and eating pizza lots. I wanted to go and see the mountain but Mum and Dad said I can’t. I guess I was asking to go snowboarding at 10pm at night but I thought it was do-able in my mind. I was so tired I went to bed and the next day I went to the mountain. I was blown away. We were going to be on this mountain for a month. It was so warm and sunny. I was so excited and thought it was a dream. I went to the chairlift which was a long ride up but I got to see the jumps and rails so I could see what I was going to be riding. It looked fun. At the top I saw lots of people. I strapped in and followed my Dad. It was like he had been here before but he never said anything about it. It turned out he had been here before. The rails were cool and the jumps were big but that didn’t stop me launching off them in the first day. It feels so good going big. My Dad had to do backside rodeos every run. They look so good and I want to learn it but Mum and Dad said I can’t do them on the first day. That day was awesome. Every day I was riding in tee shirts it was so hot. We didn’t get any powder but the park was amazing and the snow was soft. I love this place. Another day was so cool. There was an airbag. I went there every day it was open but that was only 2 days. It was cool. I did want to go ten pin bowling because our seasons pass didn’t let us ride on Sundays but then we saw the airbag so we did that. There was a zoo around the corner. We saw bears, a really big snake and coyotes and wolves. It was cool. We also went to laser strike and ten pin bowling one day. We had lots of Mexican food in Big Bear and everybody was really nice. I was wondering if my dog was ok at the kennels but I didn’t have much time to worry because every day I had to get up, drink my smoothie, brush my teeth, get dressed, get my board and jump into the car. Some days the rails and jumps changed but they always looked fun so I tried some new tricks and did a back flip but that was the easy part. I was trying backside rodeos and I was nearly getting them. I like to do them because they are fun but tiring so we went down to get some chips and we saw some people doing awesome tricks in the go pro park so I went to join them and Mum and Dad took some photos. We did this for 3 weeks. We packed up and got on the plane to go home. I was so excited to see Indy and our new British Bulldog, Chilli. We got to Fiji and got a taxi and then went to the hotel. I was amazed how we got to this place. It was awesome. There was swimming pools and a man sized chess set, volley ball and crab races. We slept a lot because we were jetlagged even though I don’t like sleeping. There was a bus called the Bula Bus that went everywhere. We said ‘Bula’ and ‘Vanaka’ to everyone. It was so much fun. Me and Mum and Dad played a game that whoever remembered to say it won the game. We stayed 3 nights. Now it was time to come home to see my new puppy and Indy and my family. Chilli was so cute. I was so excited. Chilli was so cool but Indy was so jealous but now they love each other. It’s good to be home.
