Value of ‘superfoods’

-

The word ‘superfood’ is a marketing term rather than a nutritional definition. It’s a name given to foods that have been the focus of disease research, and while superfoods do contain high levels of nutrients and often greater amounts of antioxidants such as vitamin C, no single food is ‘super’ enough to stand alone as a disease remedy. Certainly, you can’t go wrong including superfoods in your diet, but remember it’s important to have a wide variety of fruit, vegetables and other types of food to ensure you are getting everything you need to keep yourself happy and healthy.
