Oversize
Children’s drinks remain in the firing line, not only for sugar content but also for serving size. A study of 656 beverages by the Waiariki Institute of Technology in Rotorua found almost half exceed the 240ml recommended serving size. And sugar content remains high, with fizzy drinks and juices containing the most (more than 85 per cent of their total energy). The researchers are calling for stricter regulations around the availability of sugary drinks to children.
