Winter isn’t so bad! It’s a time to pull on warm woollies, a hat and boots and go for a long walk on a brisk, blustery beach, before relaxing in a hot tub and then curling up by the fire with a glass of wine. Sounds ideal doesn’t it? But our skin doesn’t think so.

Sadly, our favourite things to do when the temperatur­e drops are the ones that can take the biggest toll on the complexion. This means winter is the time to update your beauty staples for ones that care and coddle, treating skin as gently as a delicate piece of fabric.

And let’s not forget the rest of our bodies too.

The good news is it’s also a time to embrace deep, rich jewel hues and seductive new scents.

Face Drink it up

Just as you wouldn’t wear the same clothes in July as you did in January, your skin also requires different products in winter to the ones you’ve been using through summer, in order to protect it from the elements. To retain plump, dewy, hydrated skin that doesn’t display the dulling effects of harsh weather and temperatur­e extremes, the number one requiremen­t is hydration. Going from a hot, dry, heated interior to a cold exterior and back again saps skin of its moisture, meaning it’s essential to use protective and nourishing products. Switching from a lighter gel or liquid formula moisturise­r to a more dense, creamy one is the easiest change to make.
