People – and birds – who care

I respect and admire people like Margaret Chung, featured in the May issue, and her profound love of fostering children who have had a rough start to life and are in need of stability and love in a normal family home. I am aware that I wouldn’t have that ability – the compassion and empathy that people like her have! But my saving grace is that I really love animals and try to support the SPCA and similar organisations, so the second article that struck me was the item about the family with the pet magpie. This special little bird indeed looks so endearing as it does little tricks, and has unwittingly helped her owner in her health battles. The May issue really has some delightful items to read – I look forward to the next month’s Australian Women’s Weekly. GINNY SUE
