Wedded bliss
Marriage is good for your health, according to a study by Aston Medical School in Birmingham, England. Researchers who analysed more than one million patients with an average age of 60 over a 13-year period found that those with a spouse were less likely to die from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. The result was attributed to partners keeping tabs on one other about their medication, diet and exercise. While researchers insist this is not a reason to get married, they do hope it encourages people to build strong support networks with family and friends.
