Coconut oil may not be as healthy as many people think it is, with the American Heart Associatio­n advising against its use in a review of saturated fats. It turns out the fat in coconut oil is 82 per cent saturated, making it worse than butter, at 63 per cent saturated fat. Coconut oil was also found to increase levels of “bad” cholestero­l. Olive oil or sunflower oil were suggested as healthier alternativ­es.
