Megan Bedford looks at new skincare products for sensitive and ageing skin, as well as a colourful range of make-up from a classic brand.
Sensitive skin is a bane for those who endure product-inflicted flare-ups, or have skin that is thin, reactive or red and flushed. Soothing skin in its angry state or sourcing products that won’t irritate can be tricky. The good news is there are several new options to help.
For ongoing care, Trilogy’s dedicated Sensitive collection is a welcome arrival. The dermatologically-tested, botanical products are gentle and nourishing, with items like 1. Trilogy Sensitive Very Gentle Cleansing Cream, $47, and eye cream, which can be difficult to come by for those with easily irritated skin. Designed to boost the skin’s protective outer barrier, 2. Ultraceuticals Red-Action Complex, $114, and Moisturiser, $89, are a one-two punch for those suffering redness, rosacea and inflammation. La Roche-Posay, which has just arrived at Unichem and Life pharmacies, is a French line created by dermatologists and includes the Toleriane collection for sensitive skin, and Lipikar for dry, uncomfortable skin. 3. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser, $29. La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Moisturiser, $45. To strengthen skin and settle irritation, try 4. Lancôme’s new Advanced Génifique Sensitive Serum, $132, a one-month course that also provides anti-ageing benefits.
Ecoya takes a slightly more masculine approach with three new candle scents this month: Spiced Ginger & Musk, Blue Cypress & Amber and Cedarwood & Leather, $50 each.
