My sky blue budgie named Rodger, who would sit on my shoulder and kiss my neck, and when he said ‘Pretty boy’, he sounded exactly like my great-grandma, which was a tad spooky once she passed away. He was good friends with our dog and also, we discovered, probably a female. It’s very hard to tell with budgies.

A miraculous medal I got from my husband on our wedding day. They caught my eye while we were travelling through Spain but we were backpacking and it seemed extravagant to buy a gold necklace, so I ended up leaving without one. James surprised me with it during his speech at our wedding. It was very romantic and a total tear-jerker.
