Buy good-quality photo albums with protective semi-transparent sleeves between each page. Cheap albums with plastic pockets tend to disintegrate over time, ruining your photos in the process. Save your favourite photos to a USB stick to insert into the kiosks at photo shops or Warehouse Stationery. It’s a doddle (and as cheap as 20c per print) to turn digital files into beautiful colour, black and white or sepia-toned photographs. Specialist stationery, craft and photography suppliers still sell vintage-style adhesive photo corners. These are available in black or white. Apply carefully as removing a corner to reposition it tends to rip the album paper. If you don’t want to buy photo corners, use removable adhesive dots to attach photos. Never use double-sided Sellotape (it will rip the photo if you change your mind later) or Blu Tack, which leaves oily stains. If you’re an avid social media user, there are several photobook websites and apps that can turn your Facebook and Instagram feeds into “hard copy” albums. Blurb.com also offers templates if you’re a bit more design savvy.
