Bunny wreath

MATERIALS

Aluminium florist’s wire, 12 gauge Thin green florist’s wire (available from Spotlight) Scissors Foliage – small-leaved stems (we used those from a camellia tree) Assorted paper flowers PVA glue or hot glue gun Extra decor such as fresh flowers and ribbons, optional 1 Straighten a piece of aluminium wire; bend into a dinner plate-sized circle. Twist ends to fasten, ensuring pointy ends aren’t sticking out. Repeat with a smaller wire piece for the head. Twist ends together once then attach to other circle, twisting ends around both pieces to connect two circles together. Cut two lengths for ears, twist into place and smooth out.

2 Cut a length of thin florist’s wire, approximately 60cm. Wrap one end around end of a leaf stem several times, then attach to bunny where body meets head. Once stem is attached, gently wrap leaves around bunny wire, keeping it loose, and continue your florist’s wire along same lines at the back of wreath, wrapping leaves to bunny wire when required. Attach a new stem about 2-3cm before the end of the previous one so stems overlap slightly. Continue around bunny shape, cutting new lengths of florist’s wire as required. Fill in spaces with extra leaves until you’re happy with the coverage. You might need to tuck in any stray stems or pull off extra leaves.

3 If paper flowers don’t have wire attached, glue a length of florist’s wire to the back of each flower with a hot glue gun. Gently wrap each flower in place, arranging leaves as you go. Readjust shape if needed. If you like, add extra decoration to the wreath with ribbon, fresh flowers or feathers. 4 Hang and admire!
