Ten little stars

In their pretty dresses and smart regimental-style frock coats, the tiny members of the bridal party honoured Harry and Meghan’s dearest friendships.

There was sunshine and smiles on the steps of St George’s Chapel as four of the bride and groom’s dearest friends – the Duchess of Cambridge, Jessica Mulroney, Alice Van Cutsem and Benita Litt – led six tiny bridesmaids and the two youngest pageboys towards the great floral arch that formed the threshold to the chapel. The delightful bridal party was composed entirely of the children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s dearest friends. Many were the couple’s godchildren.

Princess Charlotte was all smiles and waves as she climbed the stairs and later even treated the crowd to a little dance move. Prince George was more solemn, walking hand-in-hand with his friend Jasper as he entered the chapel and later hiding quietly

Finally, all assembled, the adorable entourage set out down the aisle.

behind his father’s sleeve as the wedding party filed out.

The bright-eyed twin pageboys, Brian and John, peeked from the windows of the 1950 Rolls Royce Phantom IV that delivered them, with the bride, to the chapel. Their confident, gap-toothed grins won hearts as they took charge of Meghan’s delicate five-metre train.

The pageboys were dressed in miniature adaptations of the Blues and Royals frock coat that was worn by the groom and best man. The flower girls, like the bride, were dressed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy Haute Couture. Their pale ivory silk radzimir dresses with simple circular necks, puffed sleeves and gathered waists echoed the timeless simplicity of Meghan’s bridal gown.

Finally, all assembled, the adorable entourage set out down the aisle, the little ones gazing about and Jasper and George exchanging a few quiet words en route. As they passed Meghan at the altar, she turned and smiled reassuringly, handing her bouquet to Ivy. Little Rylan was the last to pass by. With a beaming smile, she touched her hand to her forehead as if to say, “Phew!”
