RESENE COLOUR EXPERT BROOKE CALVERT ON COLOUR EFFECTS.

-

Q If you want to keep your home design timeless what are your favourite neutral or white paint-colour choices for the whole home without it looking too stark or boring?

A Resene White Pointer and Resene Merino are both great choices for those wanting a bit of warmth with a hint of grey. To avoid having a flat colour scheme, explore strengths of the same colour. For a basic scheme, I would look at a full or double strength of a colour in a lounge with a lot of light, a half strength in the smaller bedrooms and quarter or eighth in a dark hallway. To keep a neutral or white scheme from looking boring, adding texture and well executed lighting is a must!

Q How do you make a small laundry room look bigger? What are your paint colour suggestions for this kind of small space?

A There is something about a crisp, airy, light-filled laundry that seems to be very appealing, maybe even enough to make us want to spend more time in there! To create a crisp, light look, try colours like Resene Poured Milk or Resene White Island. For a more vibrant look, try adding pops of colour. Rather than painting the whole room, paint just the door, with something fun like Resene Twisted Sister.

Q What Resene paint colours or wallpapers are you obsessed with right now?

A I am currently obsessing over warm, muted tones, which include Resene Shabby Chic, Resene Route 66, Resene Camouflage, Resene Despicito and Resene Influential. Wallpaper is a great way to transform a space with minimal effort required. Textured wallpapers and bold prints are very much on trend right now. My favourite wallpaper collections are Botanical Prints, Dream Again, Glasshouse and Portobello. View these wallpapers in the wallpaper library at Resene ColorShops.
