Rates remission
The owners of a historic house that was once the official Prime Ministerial residence are asking for a $6000 rates remission. Vogel House was owned by the Crown for more than 50 years, but sold back to the Vogel family late last year. Owners Tim and Geoff Vogel say poor maintenance under the Crown’s care has left them with substantial renovation work to do. The requested remission amounts to more than a quarter of the total $20,000 rates bill. A council committee will vote on the application at a meeting next week.
