Yes, the Corvette is definitely coming to NZ in right-hand drive. But it’s trucks first.
Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) is dead: long live General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV), which has at last launched in Australiaandnew Zealand.
GMSVHAS kicked off with50 dealerships, including the following for NZ: Giltrapgmsv(newmarket, Auckland), Manukaugmsv(auckland), Ebbett Hamiltongmsv, Robertsongmsv (Palmerston North), Johnston Ebbett Gmsv(wellington) andblackwellsgmsv (Christchurch).
Weknowexactlywhatyou’re thinking: C8corvette. Yes, thenewmid-engined monster will definitelybelaunched innz undergmsvbut you’ll have to think about it abit later. It’llbeakiwi starter for “late 2021”, says the company.
Instead, Gmsvwill start in a familiar place: with thechevrolet Silverado 1500 launched back inmarchbyhsv. The product path remains thesameforgmsv as HSV: the trucks are imported into Australiaand“remanufactured” into right-hand drivebywalkinshaw Automotive Group, includingmorethan 500uniqueparts.
Whetherthegmsvsilverado will kick off with the tailendof the previoushsv product or launch with anupdatedmodel thecompanywill not say at this stage. Pricingandspecification forwhatgmsv is calling the “2021 Silverado” is yet tobe announced.
